Witch – Jasmine lives in the beautiful hills overlooking Lake Ullswater in the English Lake District. She is destined to be a guardian witch. ‘“The whole reason guardian witches exist is to maintain natural balance. My ancestors won’t let evil dominate any more than they would allow it to be completely destroyed.” ‘
Jasmine’s powerful aura attracts supernaturals. Demon – Xavier from The Dragon Legacy was intrigued by Jasmine.’The dark-haired man appeared fascinated with Jasmine. – All women acquiesced when they fell under the spell of his midnight black gaze. Except Jasmine; she intrigued him. Her potent aura represented a source of usable power.‘
Wolf shifter – Zane fought his attraction to Jasmine in The Dragon Legacy. ‘Zane released her. Did she believe him? He cursed the rush of blood to his groin and growled with frustration. He hoped the feisty witch followed his advice.‘ but it continued into The Revenge Masquerade. ‘His hackles rose and then flattened in recognition of the scent: a mixture of flowers and spice unique to Jasmine. He resisted the urge to shift into his human form. As a wolf, their encounter would remain platonic. His mind and heart warred over the morality of his desires. He couldn’t stay. His mission necessitated he leave immediately. Was it fair to take Jasmine’s heart and leave her alone with needs mere memories wouldn’t satisfy? The wolf ignored his human conscience. Time was short and the instinctive need to brand the flame-haired witch with his mark too strong. He shifted back into his human form.‘
When ancient evil threatens The Dragon Legacy, Jasmine must embrace her destiny in The Revenge Masquerade. ‘Although she’d talked her powers up in front of the others, they were essentially untried. Failure in the face of such a dire enemy would mean certain death, unthinkable.‘
Find out on 16 December if Jasmine becomes the kick ass witch she is destined to be.
Hunted by Chaos. Protected by Death. Guided by Fire. Terran is now the key to a world she never knew existed.
A life of predictability and comfort is rocked when Terran meets the mysterious Aiden…and she’s forced to choose between the life she knew and a life on the edge.
Chasing the Sun is available from:
For Terran, life was simple – until she meets the new art gallery owner, Aiden.
Through him, she finds herself surrounded by terrifying nightmares and gods. When an ancient evil threatens to escape and unleash all Hell, Terran must dive into a world she never knew existed to save them all…even if that means giving up her life to do it.
This story is a fusion of urban paranormal/fantasy and Egyptian mythology played out against the wild, untamed setting of Alaska. Not surprisingly it caught my interest from the first page.
Told from the aptly named heroine, Terran’s point of view you are immediately aware of her despair and sadness, two years after her tragic loss. Barely able to function in the ‘real world’, she lives through her strange dreams, which for a time allow her to capture what she has lost. The dream sequences are vivid and evocative of Terran’s current life and future.
There is intricate world building in the first half of the story. This slows this pace a little but allows the reader to understand Terran and empathise with her as she struggles with her grief and new discoveries. Terran thinks she is losing her grip on reality but maybe not?
This story is full of alpha males who all effect Terran deeply. Supernatural events clash with the ordinary; she discovers no one is really what they seem. The characters’ duality makes the collision of the mythological world with contemporary Alaska imaginable. For me it is the poignancy of this story that makes it hard to put down. The fast paced ending leaves us with more questions than answers. I can’t wait for book 2.
I received a copy of this book from the author in return for an honest review.
“Aren’t these Aiden’s pieces?” Micah had caught up to me and seemed as perplexed as I did.
“Yeah, I guess so.”
“Who would have thought he’d donate his work?” Micah commented and then lost interest, walking away as she saw someone she recognized.
I stayed, staring in shock.
“Don’t look so surprised. Your friend Jon’s charity is truly for a good cause.”
I shouldn’t have lingered. By now I should have known to avoid anything having to do with Aiden. Many of the contributing artists were here to help promote their pieces so I should have known. But somehow he always caught me off guard.
“Actually, I’m surprised you have a heart at all.” My disdain oozed off my words as I gave him the biggest scowl I could muster.
However ugly I thought his attitude, I couldn’t say the same about his appearance. Aiden cleaned up nicely in his all-black tuxedo. His hair had been gelled down, but you could still see the natural wave of it. His tux looked as if it had been custom-made, which made me curious. How many black-tie events did he go to in order to have purchased a custom tux?
But, who cared? With my shoulders back, chest raised, and chin up I turned my head, grabbed my dress on the sides and walked away. Screw him.
I got about three steps away before I heard him.
“You look beautiful,” he said to my back. It stopped me, my heart thumping loud in my chest. An immeasurable amount of time had passed since someone besides my friends had told me I was beautiful. I could feel him staring at me, but I didn’t move. I only stood there, frozen.
“Terran,” His voice was soft with yearning. It was then that I gained enough courage to walk away. I had already made up my mind about him. He was too complicated and I was tired of the ups and downs of his mood. This man would break my spirit, at least what little of it I fought to keep.

Raised in Oklahoma, but eventually moving everywhere from Alaska to Spain, Sasha has finally settled in the beautiful state of Colorado. Here’s a snippet from my upcoming release The Revenge Masquerade which is due for release in December 2014. The second book in The Dragon Legacy series, this is Jasmine and Zane’s story set in romantic Venice and the Italian Lakes.
‘The shrieking noise quieted and the unmistakable creek of the heavy door alerted him of someone’s approach. His hackles rose and then flattened in recognition of the scent; a mixture of flowers and spice unique to Jasmine. He resisted the urge to shift into his human form. As a wolf their encounter would remain platonic. He shifted back into his human form.
Zane leant against the jagged stone wall. His naked body barely registered the rough-hewn rock which imprinted his skin. His abrupt shift into human form didn’t include clothes. The cool night air soothed his fevered body as Jasmine appeared. A faint blush stained her pale skin everywhere his gaze rested.’

The Dragon Legacy – Excerpt
‘ “Who upset you? Xavier?” Lukas’ fury reddened his face and neck.
“Yes.” The dragon towered above her. His hot breath seared her cold cheek. Her tentative fingers touched the spot. His face wore a hard-set expression. His lack of control unnerved Fleur. Heightened passion narrowed and darkened his eyes. She watched mesmerized as their color changed from green to gold, no longer human. The golden beast ruled here. Her gaze dropped to his mouth. She expected flames. Fleur shivered with awareness as she listed the dangers of a liaison with him. She ignored her common sense. Whatever the risks, she would surrender to his heat and passion.’
My Friday Read a couple of weeks ago was the first of the Wolf Sirens books by Tina Smith – Forbidden – Discover the Legend.
This is a paranormal romance aimed at young adults with elements of romantic suspense.
The Mystical Bond, the Fatal Allure … of Hunter & Prey
Misunderstood seventeen year old Lila Crain unwillingly moves to the foreboding town of Shade, prepared to face her punishment – Shade High. But she can’t begin to anticipate the life-altering events that lie in wait for her.
The dark and charismatic Reid has a wolfish grin and amber eyes that would make any girl blush and he has his sights set on the new girl in school. Reid’s stunning friends – including icy top dog Sam – invite Lila into their clique. Suspicious, yet flattered by their attention, she lets down her guard and answers the intriguing call like a moth to a flame.
Thrillingly introduced to the local nightlife by the enigmatic group, Lila finally feels like she belongs. But her newly found friendships threaten to turn sour when she unwittingly develops feelings for the leader’s off-limits boyfriend, Sky. Tensions rise further when a quirky local named Cresida warns Lila to stay away from the clique at all costs. Undeterred, she is irresistibly drawn to uncover the truth behind their mysterious lifestyle. Lila unwittingly starts off a chain of events that will forever alter fate for both hunter and hunted as she learns they have been waiting for her…
Inspired by the legend of the femme fatale goddess, Artemis.
Written for young adults ‘Forbidden’ is the first in the ‘Wolf Sirens’ series. The legend of the Angel and the Wolf intrigues me but the preface’s description of the legend’s effect on Shade is too detailed. This interesting information would be better drip fed into the story through the characters, making it easier to absorb.
The first half of this book didn’t compel me but I persevered and found the second half more to my taste. I appreciate this book is aimed at young adults and first love and this definitely came across when Lila is torn between two potential lovers. The first person point of view limits the potential of this story because we only see things through Lila’s eyes and I would like to know what the men in her life were thinking and the mysterious Cresida.
There were some interesting twists in this story which made it suspenseful and I liked Lila. I would love to see how she progresses into her destiny.
If supernatural wolves are your thing and you enjoy reading about popular paranormal themes you should read this. I am hooked enough to try book two in the series ‘Wolf Sirens: Fever.
I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
