Determined not to let life weigh her down, Angie finds work at the local mall where she worked as a teenager. After an embarrassing run-in with a handsome stranger, Nick, she’s convinced her luck is about to change.

My Thoughts…

A second chance romance with the lovely festive backdrop of New England. Angie never thought she go back east, but when her life implodes thanks to her cheating ex, she has little choice. Moving in with mum and dad is not ideal, not to mention overcrowded, so she needs a plan. Nick’s life is far from easy, but a serendipitous meeting with Angie, maybe just what he needs, but is it really?

This is a story of family and friendships, secrets and lies, with a small town ethos. The romance is gentle and slow, both are hurting, and they have many conflicts to overcome. Thankfully, this is a heartwarming festive read and so the ending is hopeful and romantic.

The perfect escapist read, full of family drama, interference and love, good friends, and a chance to start again for Angie and Nick.

A Summer to Remember Victoria Cooke 4* #Review #Romance #StartingOver #Friendship #loss #grief #Boston #NewEngland #FamilyDrama @HQDigitalUK @rararesources #PublicationDay @VictoriaCooke10

#ASummerToRemember

Sam lives by the mantra that it is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.

After the tragic loss of her husband, Sam built a new life around friends, her cat Coco and a career she loves. Fending off frequent set-ups and well-meaning advice to ‘move on’, Sam is resolutely happy being single.

But when Sam gets seconded to her firm’s Boston office for the summer, it is more than her career that is in for a shake-up. A spur of the moment decision to visit the idyllic beaches of Cape Cod could end up changing her life forever.

My Thoughts…

Starting with a family tragedy, you immediately feel empathy with the woman suffering a cataclysmic loss. Fast forward to 2018 and we meet Sam, whose point of view this story is told from, and a widow after that terrible night in 2010. She is existing rather than living, with one good friend, who even though she understands still keep putting eligible men in her path. Happy, if you can call it that, with her demanding career and her cat coco, you really want her to find true happiness again.

After many failures, she gains the opportunity to further her career, with a job in Boston, for three months, she decides to go, and it is the beginning of a new chapter in her life. The secondment does not go to plan and in need of some R&R, she takes a ferry trip to Cape Cod, whose small town charm melts her heart and leaves her open to friendship at least.

The setting is lovely, New England always brings charm and character, to a romantic story, as is the case here. The romance with Ethan, someone who is also hurting, is conflict ridden and gentle. It is believable, because the passion is low key and both are wary of laying their hearts open to hurt. The friendship with Barney and Harry is also noteworthy, it shows Sam what true friendship can be. The pacing is good and the cast of characters and emotion in the story realistic.

Angst, emotion and romance are beautifully intertwined in this gentle second chance love story, unfolding in a lovely coastal setting.

Victoria Cooke grew up in the city of Manchester before crossing the Pennines in pursuit of a career in education. She now lives in Huddersfield with her husband and two young daughters and when she’s not at home writing by the fire with a cup of coffee in hand, she loves working out in the gym and travelling. Victoria was first published at the tender age of eight by her classroom teacher who saw potential in a six-page story about an invisible man. Since then she’s always had a passion for reading and writing, undertaking several writers’ courses before completing her first novel, ‘The Secret to Falling in Love,’ in 2016.

Her third novel, Who Needs Men Anyway? became a digital bestseller in 2018.

WILDE FOR YOU by Marianne Rice

The Wilde Sisters, Book 3

Publisher: Limitless Publishing

Release Date: May 31, 2016

Blurb - Coastal

Event planner Sage Wilde has lots of lists and no time for a relationship…

Precise to a fault, Sage plans everything—meetings, meals, and sex. But when she learns her youngest sister can’t carry a child, she steps up and commits to the role of a surrogate mother. It’s not out of sentiment, because Sage doesn’t do love or touchy-feely, but out of practicality. She doesn’t plan on marrying or having children, so why not rent out her unused space, right?

Luke Riley is a sexy firefighter who’s looking for love in all the wrong places…

Luke’s morning gets a little brighter when he’s called to a clinic and spots a blonde beauty wearing killer red boots. Though she doesn’t seem interested, he manages to introduce himself. It’s unusual for a woman to push away his advances, but Luke is attracted to her confident nature and strong personality. It’s not long before he wears her down, and she finally agrees to a date.

Who says you can’t mix work with pleasure?

Sage blames her growing affections for Luke on pregnancy hormones. But one last hurrah before her belly swells sounds like a well-deserved thrill. After a few passionate nights, the line between love and lust begins to blur—leaving her more confused than ever.

Luke is mesmerized by her keen wit and social charm. She may claim not to want children, but when she befriends his troubled foster sister, it proves there’s a heart inside of Sage waiting to be loved.

Will Sage’s surrogacy unlock her willingness to commit? Or will Luke stand by as the woman he loves plans a future without him?

Release Day Spotlight and 5* Review: Then Came You – Marianne Rice -The Wilde Sisters#2

Title: THEN CAME YOU
Author: Marianne Rice
Series: The Wilde Sisters, Book #2
Blurb - Flower

Thyme Wilde doesn’t make long-term decisions—until she falls in love with one…

Easily bored and quickly distracted, Thyme enjoys her freedom, so being a temp at her sister’s company is the perfect job. But when she takes a position as a nanny, she instantly falls in love with the five-year-old princess named Maddie—and just two months later, Maddie’s parents are killed in a plane crash, leaving Thyme in an unfamiliar role of responsibility.

Multi-millionaire architect Grayson Montgomery lives in the lap of luxury—but at a cost…

Being the sole heir of his family’s fashion empire and his father’s architectural firm, Grayson has never lacked for anything. But in return, he must stay subservient to the matriarch of his family—his grandmother—and date the heiress of their largest business partner. The only freedom Grayson has is his architectural designs, which are his true passion.

One day changes Grayson’s future forever…

A lawyer summons Grayson to Maine for the reading of the will of a woman he once knew. He doesn’t expect to be named the father of a five-year-old orphan. Then he meets his newly-discovered daughter—and her incredibly sexy nanny.

While acting as Maddie’s loyal nanny, Thyme develops feelings for her new employer that are more than professional. And after several passionate nights with Grayson, it’s clear the feeling is mutual.

When it’s made evident Grayson sees her as a convenient placeholder, Thyme must push aside her desires and put Maddie above herself—even if it means sacrificing her heart to do it.

Flowers - My Review

The beginning of ‘Then Came You’ sets the scene for a lovely cute meet and a heart warming sensual love story, which travels beyond Maine, but retains its small town charisma and values. This is Thyme’s story and makes a great standalone read, even though it is part of a series.
Thyme the youngest and wildest of the Wilde sisters was introduced in ‘Sweet On You’ and despite her lack of responsibility, being the typical baby of the family, she is warm hearted and instantly likeable. Becoming a nanny to Maddie really changes Thyme’s outlook and helps her become the person she always wanted to be.
Intelligent, dedicated but a little stuffy, it’s only when Grayson discovers he has fathered a child, his true nature is revealed. His beyond wealthy family is only happy on the surface and his deference to his tyrannical Grandmother threatens any future happiness he may have with Maddie and Thyme.
Thyme’s character matures in this story, Grayson loses his staid image, as he realises what’s really important in life. This is a story of heartbreak, missed opportunity, dynasty but most importantly love. The ending is romantic and vivid but there is an unexpected twist that threatens the happy ever after and leaves questions posed for final book in the series, perhaps?
‘Then Came You’, is an absorbing, fun and romantic read.

After gaining social media exposure of his culinary art, Trent’s cake design goes viral. Soon he’s contacted by the Cooking Network to host a new show in California. She wants it all, including a white picket fence and a dog named Spot—which is exactly why she refuses to sleep with Trent, the sexy man who attends her Zumba classes. Teaser Winter My Review

Sweet on You (Wilde Sisters #1)

This story has all the homely charm of a small town romance with beautifully drawn characters and a picture postcard setting. Add in the glamour of a newly crowned celebrity chef – Trent Kipson, who catches the eye of fitness fanatic and aptly named Rayne Wilde and you have an engaging story you can’t put down.
The plot twists are well timed and there are more than a few surprises for Rayne and Trent.
The chemistry between Rayne and Trent sizzles from their first cute meet and it builds in a realistically satisfying way. The love scenes are hot but not graphic and fit in with the romance and gentle ethos of the story.
The supporting characters give the story its authenticity. I particularly liked Brian. Rayne’s sisterly siblings are recognisable to anyone who has sisters and you find out just enough about them to make you want to discover their stories too.
This is a lovely romantic story with plenty of angst and passion, the perfect ingredients for a cosy winter read.
