From Best Friend To Fiancée Ellie Darkins 5*#Review @EllieDarkins @MillsandBoon @HarlequinBooks #MillsandBoonTrueLove #HarlequinRomance #MillsandBoonInsiders #Romance #FridayReads #FromBestFriendToFiancée

She’s strictly off-limits…
Isn’t she?

Jannes is a professional yachtsman with a playboy reputation. The tabloids devote more columns to his romantic entanglements than his round-the-world races! But scandals spook sponsors, so Jannes makes a proposal of mutual convenience to his commitment-phobe best friend Lara: pose as his girlfriend for PR purposes only and he’ll help keep her chaotic family at bay. It’s perfect… Until the paparazzi leak photos of Lara with a diamond ring on her finger!

I received a copy of this book from Mills and Boon via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

My Thoughts…

Friends to lovers romance always put the protagonists in a quandary. Will the physical attraction damage the emotional connection they have as friends? This is the question for Lara and Jannes as they embark on a fake relationship to help Jannes’ career risking their friendship for a PR stunt.

Jannes and Lara have trust issues which make their friendship precious. Their emotional connectivity and the glamorous setting allow their physical attraction to develop. It makes the couple face their emotional issues together in a bid to be both friends and lovers.

The characters are flawed and likeable, the dialogue is witty, and the story explores contemporary issues.

Photographer Gianna is done with men. Retreating to her villa on the shore of Lake Como… she is stunned to find gorgeous Dario renting her house! When Dario is mistaken for her long-gone fiancé, they realise a fake engagement could solve problems for them both. Pretending to be in love should be easy, but what happens when very real feelings start to grow?

Amazon UK

I received a copy of this book from Mills and Boon via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

My Thoughts…

A lovely romantic story where the couple’s slow-burn attraction deepens into an emotional commitment. The fake engagement trope is well-written with plenty of internal conflicts. The family interference which affects the couple is believable and adds additional external conflicts for their happy ever after.

Gianna and Dario are easy to like you empathise with their problems, which are convincingly written. Tito, the dog, is an engaging character who initiates their first encounter and proves to be a redoubtable matchmaker.

This is a gentle romantic story full of emotion and humour.

Amazon UK   Amazon  Mills & Boon Harlequin

I received a copy of this book from the author in return for an honest review.

My Thoughts…

I like the originality of this story. Whilst the story has the expected glamorous setting, the situation the couple find themselves is unusual. Both have changed since their college romance, and Whit has a story to share that only Jamie can write.

The proximity and memories satisfyingly build chemistry. The issues raised are topical and give the story authenticity. This story takes both protagonists on an emotional journey with romantic interludes and a happy ending.

Barbara Wallace is the best selling author of over two dozen romance and cozy mystery novels.  Her books can be found world-wide, including the UK, France, Germany, Canada, Italy and Australia.

A native New Englander, Barb lives in the suburbs with her husband of thirty-one years. Their only son is married and lives on a farm in the middle of nowhere. When she’s not writing, you’ll find her hard at work at her other job, that of an unappreciated caretaker to two demanding rescue cats. For some reason they seem to think laps are for petting, not laptop computers.

And walking away from their fake relationship is harder than they planned…

Amazon UK

I received a copy of this book from Mills and Boon via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

My Thoughts…

A second chance romance about two people who shy away from emotional involvement because of their pasts. Both have secrets, but they need each other, and they cannot deny the attraction between them.

Relatable characters and a recognisable glamorous setting contribute to this is a lovely romance. It’s based on a fake relationship but develops into friendship and love. The first book in the Cassaveti Inheritance series is Ava and Liam’s story.

Ava and Liam are easy to empathise both damaged by their past family life. The trust between them realistically matures into love which culminates in a happy ever after. There are new characters to meet and questions to explore in further books in this romantic series.

I received a copy of this book from the author in return for an honest review.

My Thoughts…

Jacob is a successful personal security consultant always strictly professional since he lost someone, important to him. Charlotte keeps under the radar, no scandal no trouble but has she sacrificed herself remaining out of the limelight?

This is a gentle romance which grows through mutual respect and proximity. Both need to heal from past emotional experiences. A passionate encounter forces them to consider the future. The characters are easy to like and relatable and the situations they encounter believable. This is a lovely romance with a positive ending.

While bestselling author Donna Alward was busy studying Austen, Eliot and Shakespeare, she was also losing herself in the breathtaking stories created by romance novelists like LaVyrle Spencer and Judith McNaught.  Several years after completing her degree she decided to write a romance of her own and it was true love! Five years and ten manuscripts later she sold her first book and launched a new career. While her heartwarming stories of love, hope, and homecoming have been translated into several languages, hit bestseller lists and won awards, her very favorite thing is when she hears from happy readers.

A Marquis in Want of a WifeLouise Allen

Ross Vincent, Marquis of Cranford, with his scarred face and formidable disposition knows he’s hardly a catch. But he needs a wife to take care of his motherless son. Shy, scholarly Prudence Scott seems ideal: she has no expectation of love or passion. She’ll care for his baby in return for the protection of his name. Yet seeing Prudence on their wedding day tests Ross’s willpower to not take his new wife to bed…

My Thoughts … 4*

A marriage of convenience against the backdrop of Waterloo makes this an exciting read. Prue is an intelligent woman who makes a youthful mistake. Ross, a widower, gives her way of preserving her reputation. Their relationship becomes convivial and then romantic, but Waterloo intervenes with near-disastrous results for their life together. Prue is a strong character who matures in the face of adversity and her growing love for Ross and his son. Ross has to learn to trust, something which takes him a while and almost loses him everything. The emotional connection in this story is believable, and Prue’s relationship with her friends is relatable.

Awakening His Shy CinderellaSophie Pembroke

Damon knows Rachel’s always prioritised her family’s needs above her own and it’s time for her to step out of her comfort zone! Damon usually steers clear of commitment, but neither can resist indulging in a very temporary affair! Only when the time comes, can he walk away…?

My Thoughts … 5*

I love modern fairytales, especially at this time of year and this one is magical and romantic and has a contemporary edge. It’s easy to recognise the characters, there’s the wicked stepmother, and the two ugly sisters who despite being outwardly glamorous are mean spirited inside. Rachel doesn’t want to cause her father extra stress, but that doesn’t stop her having dreams, including her longtime crush on her best friend’s brother Damon. Damon doesn’t fit in with his family either, and never feels good enough. The attraction, between Rachel and Damon, simmers gently but grows as they acknowledge their emotional response to each other. There’s a fairy godmother who sees what they could be and plenty of evil and magic occurrences as the story plays out. Sensory imagery immerses the reader in this magical tale, and the multi-layered characters are believable. A lovely story to escape with during the festive holidays.

Christmas Under the Northern Lights – Annie O’Neil

After her fiancé’s shocking betrayal, District Nurse Audrey Walsh hopes to escape Christmas on remote Bourtree Island! Instead, she’s met by a gorgeous man in a Santa suit… Dr. Cooper MacAskill! They’re stuck working (and living) together ‘til New Year, both with their demons to face. Except their inconvenient attraction, and the warmth of this island community offers them healing and happiness – if they have the courage to take it!

My Thoughts … 4*

This is an atmospheric festive romance set on a remote Scottish isle. Christmas cheer is the last thing Audrey feels when she discovers her fiance with another woman, weeks before the wedding she paid for. Heartbroken and in need of cash, she takes a District Nurse locum role as she reassesses her life goals. Cooper grew up on the island. Grieving over his grandmother’s death, he feels guilty and wary of the islanders’ reception. The author believably creates the island world with a relatable cast of characters within the community. The romance and spectacle of the Northern Lights engage the readers’ senses and immerse them in the setting. Audrey and Cooper learn more about themselves and each other in this gentle romance with a well researched medical theme. This is a heartwarming, festive medical romance.

Stolen to Wear His Crown – Marcella Bell

Mina has finally achieved her dream of becoming chief scientific advisor of Cyrano when she’s stolen from the interview room! She’s taken directly to the palace chapel where the terms of a secret betrothal mean she must marry the King – immediately.

My Thoughts … 4*

A fictional kingdom, an unusual heroine, and a determined king make this an interesting romance. The world created is pure fantasy but with some realistic elements. Mina is an intelligent but unworldly woman, fixated on her career and just about to achieve her objective. Zayn knows his duty and will never let his personal feelings get in the way of it. There are elements in this story that defy belief, but if you accept them and Zayn’s often autocratic behaviour, this is a good romance with strong characters full of conflict, glamour and the chance of love.

Tempted by the Tycoon’s Proposal Rachael Stewart 5*#Review @rach_b52 @MillsandBoon @HarlequinBooks @rararesources #MillsandBoonTrueLove #BookBlitz #BookReview #Romance #TemptedbytheTycoonsProposal #ThursdayThoughts #giveaway #ebook

A second chance…
With the single dad?

When hotelier Sophia Lambert finds billionaire Jack McGregor’s runaway daughter, a thank you dinner sounds harmless. Until Sophia finds herself tantalizingly attracted to Jack… The deeply desirable single dad re-awakens long-buried emotions in Sophia, but his jet-set life is beckoning. Unless Sophia can tempt him with her own proposal: to keep his feet on the ground…

Amazon UK

I received a copy of this book from the author in return for an honest review.

My Thoughts…

This is a gentle, sweet romance with a delightful matchmaker who is the star of the show and beautifully described romantic settings. Jack lives for his daughter and his work, which has left him materially rich but emotionally poor. Sophia doesn’t believe she deserves a full life after a tragic incident in her past, so work is everything for her. She’s competent and successful in business but naive and unfulfilled in her emotional life. Lily is the reason for their paths to cross and she keeps them connected, then its a battle of chemistry versus their past issues but thankfully romance wins out in the end.

The characters are believably flawed and easy to like. Lily sees a chance of real family life and is the catalyst for the romance that follows between her dad and Sophia. The romance is lovely, and there are lots of romantic settings that add to the story’s ambience. The pacing is perfect, and although the conclusion is a true romance, there are conflicts both internal and external along the bumpy emotional road.

Sometimes less is more and this true with this romantic tale.

Rachael Stewart

Rachael Stewart adores conjuring up stories for the readers of Harlequin Mills & Boon and Deep Desires Press, with tales varying from the heartwarmingly romantic to the wildly erotic.

She’s been writing since she could put pen to paper as the stacks of scrawled on A4 sheets in her loft will attest to, and the lovingly bound short stories that her father would run off at work and proudly share out with his colleagues. Thinking it was a pipe dream to be published one day, she pursued a sensible career in business but she was really play-acting, achieving the appropriate degree and spending many years in the corporate world where she never truly belonged. Always happiest when she was sat at her laptop in the quiet hours tapping out a story or two. And so here she is, a published author, her full-time pleasure, a dream come true.

A Welsh lass at heart, she now lives in Yorkshire with her husband and three children, and if she’s not glued to her laptop, she’s wrapped up in them or enjoying the great outdoors seeking out inspiration.

My Thoughts…

The third book in the Christmas at the Harrington Park Hotel series features older brother Hugo and event planner Erin, a widow with a lovely son. I read and enjoyed the first book in the series, and this is equally enjoyable.

The setting is festive and glamorous, London at its festive best and the romance is sparkling. Both Erin and Hugo have trust issues as their relationship turns from professional to personal they help each other unravel the emotional wasteland of their lives.

The romance is passionate, and although they deny their emotional connection, it’s there from the start. The conflicts are internal and external, but no Christmas story, is complete without a happy ending is it?

This is an emotional festive story with a glamorous festive setting.

Snowbound At The Manor Ellie Darkins 4*#Review @MillsandBoon @EllieDarkins #MillsandBoonInsiders #Romance #SnowboundAtTheManor #instagram #MillsandBoonTrueLove #Festive Read

The words merry and Christmas don’t go together for Jess. So her trip to a luxury stately home is for business, not pleasure. Only Jess hadn’t counted on spending Christmas snowbound with enigmatic Rufus, elusive owner of the manor. To top it off, it’s more difficult to ignore the sparks between them with each passing day!

Amazon UK

I received a copy of this book from Mills and Boon via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

My Thoughts…

It took me a little while to warm to the characters and events in this story, although I enjoyed the setting and the unexpected encounter element from the start. Rufus and Jess meet dramatically with him collapsing on her holiday home doorstep, and the chemistry begins to sizzle as she helps him thaw out. Neither is keen on involvement, so there is plenty of conflict in this story as they fight the attraction between them. The Instagram promotion angle is the least appealing element of the story for me, but I appreciate others may love this.

This is a lovely festive read with a great setting, romance and snow.

When Hugo Grey’s aunt leaves her house to Alice Walters – a complete stranger! He is baffled. Especially as the will states Hugo must help Alice convert it into a butterfly centre! He and Alice clash over everything, except his attraction to the captivatingly feisty butterfly expert which is hard to ignore…

Amazon UK

I received a copy of this book from Mills and Boon via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

My Thoughts…

Believable characters and an original plot make this story engaging and romantic. Intelligent and kind Alice has a history of picking the wrong man. Widower Hugo is struggling to live without his soulmate. They meet at a will reading, and first impressions are not favourable, but gradually they grow and nurture each other towards happiness.

The Butterfly and ecological themes add authenticity to the story. The romance is gentle, and the characters endear themselves to the reader. You want them to find happiness together.

This is a heartwarming tale with a relatable plot and engaging characters.
