The faster they go…
The harder she’ll fall

Lola McBride doesn’t do one-night-stands—until a blisteringly hot kiss from a lusciously sexy London nightclub owner has her rethinking that. Of course, Connor Fitzpatrick has no idea that she’s competing with him to purchase a local historic building. It’s a teeny lie of omission…that grows with each scorching encounter! And when Lola starts to fall for Connor, her deception might be the ultimate deal-breaker.

My Thoughts…

This is a pacy, sensual romance with emotional conflicts and a massive external conflict threatening any chance of the couple’s happy-ever-after.

The romance is sensual and the emotion that results pose difficult questions for Lola who is hiding a big secret from Connor. This story is true to the genre and is an enjoyable read.

My Thoughts…

Second chance and reunion romance is a feature of Dare, but this one is this and something much darker. Flawlessly written the sizzling attraction and climactic love scenes are part of an emotional story, heavy on angst and dark internal conflict.

The love story is believable, but the flawed couple has to fight hard mostly with themselves to get their happy ever after. The Dublin setting provides the light relief in this story, vividly described throughout.

It’s impossible not to be immersed in this story which will leave you breathless and exhausted but with a smile.

Rachael Stewart adores conjuring up stories for the readers of Harlequin Mills & Boon and Deep Desires Press, with tales varying from the heartwarmingly romantic to the wildly erotic.

She’s been writing since she could put pen to paper as the stacks of scrawled on A4 sheets in her loft will attest to, and the lovingly bound short stories that her father would run off at work and proudly share out with his colleagues. Thinking it was a pipe dream to be published one day, she pursued a sensible career in business but she was really play-acting, achieving the appropriate degree and spending many years in the corporate world where she never truly belonged. Always happiest when she was sat at her laptop in the quiet hours tapping out a story or two. And so here she is, a published author, her full-time pleasure, a dream come true.

A Welsh lass at heart, she now lives in Yorkshire with her husband and three children, and if she’s not glued to her laptop, she’s wrapped up in them or enjoying the great outdoors seeking out inspiration.

‘You know what I’m doing…
Are you going to stop me?’

Tech entrepreneur Nina Fuller’s new app is on the verge of a major breakthrough. But there’s a string attached—or rather, a ring. An engagement ring. And it’s attached to tall, dark, and delicious fashion exec Major Gold. All Nina has to do is play her part as his fiancée. Not want him too much. And absolutely, positively not fall in love with him…

Amazon UK

I received a copy of this book from Mills and Boon via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

My Thoughts…

The second book in The Fabulous Golds series reads well as a standalone. I like the characters and the family dynamic, so I hope to read the first book too. The fashion and app technology industry provide an original setting for this romantic, sensual story.

Nina and Major’s physical attraction is immediate. The chance of their feelings deepening is complicated by their business arrangement and fake engagement. The passionate love scenes show their emotional connection, as both realise this may be the real thing.

There are no surprises, but the well-paced plot and engaging characters make this an enjoyable, romantic read.

He loves it when she takes charge…

but can he take the heat?

Graciela Mortimer is famously rich, entitled and far too beautiful—just like the woman who broke my heart—so I’m not thrilled about working with her on a remote Alaskan photoshoot. But when Graciela sends away her entourage and a blizzard locks us both in our cabin, I know it’s time to thaw this dominant ice queen’s heart…

I received a copy of this book from Mills and Boon via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

My Thoughts…

This story is undeniably hot despite its frozen Alaska setting. Graciela and Jensen’s initial antagonism rapidly changes to sexual heat. Opposites attract and the couple find they are two sides to the same coin. Can their sexual compatibility translate into forever love?

This is an emotional and explicit story. Graciela and Jensen’s are vulnerable and have trust issues which make their intense romance full of internal conflict.

Full of angst and passion the reader is left exhausted but satisfied when Graciela and Jensen finally achieve their happy ending.

Bad Business J.C. Harroway 4*#Review @jcharroway @MillsandBoon #ThePleasurePact #MillsandBoonDare #MillsandBoonInsiders #Dare #Fiji #HolidayRomance #BookReview #ThursdayThoughts

An island honeymoon for one…

…becomes a racy fling for two!

My friends and I have a ‘pleasure pact’—live more fully and indulge in a red-hot fling. Newly single and up to the challenge, I’m more than ready for some no-strings thrills in tropical Fiji—and gorgeous paddleboarding instructor Ryan Dempsey is the perfect man to share them with. But our electrifying chemistry soon becomes a more passionate connection…can I convince Ryan to risk our affair for something deeper?

Amazon UK

I received a copy of this book from Mills and Boon in return for an honest review.

My Thoughts…

Unusually for a Dare book, this story didn’t begin with the couple but Grace and her friends as they make a pleasure pact on a night out. Grace travels to Fiji and meets Ryan. Grace’s initial encounter with Ryan is steamy and sets the scene, for what follows. Neither reveals their true identities at first. When they do, the emotional connection deepens.

The setting is idyllic. It complements the sensual romance perfectly.

‘You made the rules…
But you forgot I’m really good at games.’

Casino mogul Alexa Lawson always keeps the lines between her and drop-dead gorgeous bestie Carter Hayes firmly drawn. That is until Alexa’s solution to all her problems is to make Carter her super-hot, fake fiancé! Now Carter’s changing the game—into one that’s white-hot and deliciously dirty. But what happens on one wild night in Vegas might just cost them their friendship… and their hearts.

Amazon UK

I received a copy of this book from Mills and Boon in return for an honest review.

My Thoughts…

Friends to lovers trope romance with the added spice of the #Dare series.

Set in Las Vegas, the setting didn’t endear itself, neither did the gambling references. Similarly, the characters are hard to like because of their preoccupation with money, and one night stands.

Alexa, runs a casino and enjoys gambling and playing the romantic field, serially. Carter, her longtime best friend, is a technical genius, but again has made serious money by providing security devices for casinos and other organisations.

The chemistry between them is what makes this story readable. I like friends to lovers romances, but the fake engagement isn’t believable because it goes against both of the character’s independent, don’t care what anybody else thinks characteristics.

The romance is hot and sensual, but awkward in parts, maybe to illustrate the difficulties the characters had with their new relationship? The ending is happy.

She’s setting the terms… In business and pleasure!

Lucas Waring was my brother’s best friend—before he broke my heart and betrayed my family. Yet one glance from those dark, intense eyes, and that bolt of aching need returns. Now Lucas wants my business. But the nice Eva he knew is gone forever and naughty Eva wants her cake, and a taste of deliciously hot Lucas, too. Only my heart’s about to pull the biggest betrayal of all…

Amazon UK

I received copy of this book from the author in return for an honest review.

My Thoughts…

A seductive festive treat with heartfelt emotion, sensual romance, and a strong female protagonist. There is real character development in this story, which reflects on the event when Eva was eighteen, and how much she has changed ten years on. Yet her passion for Lucas remains stronger than ever. External conflict is strong in this romance, but Eva wants the truth and is determined that this time, everything will be on her terms.

The romance is sizzling and sensual, hotly pursued by the couple’s emotional attachment, which makes this romance endearing, even though, on one level, it is all about the physical attraction. The plot is well- written and the writing style in the first-person point of view, from both protagonists, makes it immediate and believable.

The perfect stocking filler this Christmas.
