Coming Home to Penvennen Cove Linn B Halton #CoverReveal @LinnBHalton @Aria_Fiction #Romance #SecondChances #Cornwall #Family

Can Kerra’s Cornish hometown offer the fresh start she needs?

When Kerra left the quiet Cornish town of Penvennan Cove for the bright lights of London she didn’t look back. But after the death of her mother, she’s decided it’s time to face her past and return to the place she called home. Her father needs her, and perhaps she needs him more than she’s willing to admit?

Tackling town gossip, home renovations and a flame from her past, it’s not quite smooth sailing for Kerra. Ross is the bad boy she was meant to forget, not a man who still sets her heart aflutter. As he helps bring her dream home to life, they begin to break down the barriers that have been holding them back and in the process learn things about themselves they never thought possible.

As friends old and new come together, the future in Penvennan looks bright.

A Little Luck, A Lot of Fate- Inspiration behind the story – Linn B Halton- 5* Review

Linn  is one of my favourite authors,  like me she believes there is more to this life than we can see with our eyes and this always makes her romantic stories special.  I asked her to tell me what inspired her latest story ‘ A Little Luck, A Lot of Fate.

a-little-luck

A Little Luck, A Lot of Fate – who doesn’t have a secret, or two, to hide from the world?

I suppose the idea for this novel was sparked by the way a celebrity’s life is often aired on TV, in magazines, and in daily newspapers, whether or not they are seeking the spotlight. There must be times even an A-lister wants to sink quietly into the background to keep a few things secret from the world. In a way it is nice to know that even the rich and famous go through the same trials and tribulations as their fans, but would you want to go through those awful moments in the public eye? After all – we’re all human and the path we travel is never an easy one.

As for secrets? Well, mine (but don’t tell anyone) is that I’m painfully shy. When I’m nervous I chat, which makes people think I’m outgoing but it really is only the nerves talking! So what’s YOUR little secret?

My latest novel is really about someone who glosses over the problems in her life because she is one hundred per cent focused on her career. But what happens when you reach those dizzying heights: you are the best at what you do? And what if one day a panic attack signals the start of a new journey?

Blurb 2016- 2

On the surface, Kristi Danielson has it all. She’s a lifestyle coach to the rich and famous, has a bestselling book to her name and is described by her fans as “the veritable Queen of how to lead a fulfilling life”.

But the harsh truth is that Kristi has never practiced what she preaches. Her home life is a mess, her relationship with artist boyfriend, Tom, not much better – and now she has to redeem herself before all is lost.

At her wit’s end, Kristi is driven to seek out the help of Patrick Blakeslee, a tarot card reader and psychic medium, in an attempt to make sense of the mounting panic she’s feeling.

But Patrick’s visits have an unexpected effect on Kristi, leaving her with more questions than answers – and a life-changing decision to make.

My Review 2016-1

A Little Luck, A Lot of Fate

Kristi, has it all, or so her fans believe. A celebrity lifestyle coach, she is famous for identifying what’s wrong in people’s life and telling them how to make it better. So, her life should be perfect, right? Unfortunately, not. Kirsti’s determined to fix it, she just doesn’t know how. She runs from her relentless lifestyle but is she taking the right path, or just inviting more problems?
A voice in her head seems to be directing her actions but she doesn’t understand it. Seeking Patrick’s help is out of character. He’s a psychic medium but she is out of her depth. Their interactions lead to more questions than answers and force them both to look at their lives more deeply.
Told in a light-hearted way, this story deals with strong emotions and tragic events. Kristi tries to follow her own life mantra’s but putting her theories into practice is not as easy as she thought and the psychic interference only makes it more difficult for her to choose the path to take.

Kristi is a likeable character full of human flaws but with a heart full of goodness. Tom, a permanent fixture in her life, is her friend/lover but is he the man of her dreams or an emotional crutch? Patrick soon becomes her mentor but he wants more.

There is a love triangle of sorts in this story which adds a little spice, in what is a journey of discovery for the main characters; Kristi, Patrick and Tom. The psychic element is intrinsic to the plot and adds an interesting dimension to this engaging romantic tale.
I received a copy of this book from the author in return for an honest review.

A Little Sugar, A Lot of Love

One of the best things about reading fiction for me is the chance to experience another world, walk in someone else’s shoes for a while. Sometimes this is romantic experience, sometimes it is angst ridden, with this author’s stories by the time you reach the end you always have that ‘feel good’ feeling that sets you up for the day ahead.
Katie and Adam are wonderful characters, not perfect but willing to go the extra mile for people they care about, even if it means putting their wants and needs on hold. Serendipity plays an important role in this story and if we’re honest most of us acknowledge our own lives are touched in similar ways at certain times.
Grace is at the end of her life but she still puts her grandson Adam first. She worries that he only living half a life and hopes to remain on earth long enough to help him. She, as do the other characters in this flowing, poignant story, has lessons to learn.
Self belief and discovery are important themes of this story, whether you believe in soul mates or a life beyond our human existence, this story is worth reading.
I received a copy of this book from the author in return for an honest review.

5* Review: Quintessentially Yours – Linn B. Halton

My Review - Coastal

Quintessentially YoursThe title ‘Quintessentially Yours’ sums up the ethos of this lovely story perfectly.

Katherine’s romantic bubble has burst in all aspects of her life and she is understandably shell shocked. James finds this needy Katherine, something of a challenge, although he shows his true worth by plugging all the holes in their daily life; whilst helping Katherine rediscover her sense of self-worth. James has his own demons to conquer as he adjusts to life as a new father.

Again the support characters are interesting and provide important insight into the story of our star-crossed couple. Mark’s life also loses its status quo and Katherine manages to forget her own worries, to provide him with the support he so obviously needs.

There are unexpected twists and a charming mix of humour and poignancy. Although a sequel to ‘Under the Stars’, this story is complete. An enjoyable read, even if you haven’t discovered the delights of ‘Under the Stars’ yet.

‘Quintessentially Yours’, is a tale of everyday life and people with just enough added sparkle to make it the perfect read to escape your own life for a little while.

Poppy - Author BioIMG_3069Bristol-born Linn B. Halton lives in the small village of Lydbrook, which nestles on the edge of the Forest of Dean, in the UK. She resides there with her husband and feline with ‘catitude’- Mr Tiggs.
Linn began writing in March 2009 and her debut novel was published in February 2011. In a recent interview Linn was asked about genres:
“From a very young age I knew romantic fiction was always going to be my genre. I am, and will always be, madly in love with love! Whether that’s love of life, a partner, or the things I’m passionate about.
My stories are about love, life and real relationships – but romance is always the one thing that holds each story together. Often there’s a light, psychic touch and I never dreamed I would write drawing upon my personal psychic experiences. But as my interest and understanding in the subject has grown, it is now such a part of my life that it finds its way into my fictional tales. However, what is heartening is that most of my experiences have been uplifting and it’s wonderful to know loved ones are around me always. I hope it will make readers stop and wonder ‘What if?’
The result is that I get a lot of mail from readers who have had similar experiences and some are sharing theirs for the first time with me. I always feel that’s something rather special and for which I’m very grateful.”
Love, life and beyond… but it’s ALWAYS about the romance!

5* Review: Under the Stars – Linn B. Halton

25578022
Blurb - CoastalKatherine Dale’s life is in a state of chaos. She has just been made redundant from her job as an accountant and she finds herself with no career, no direction in life and no relationship to fall back on.

To make matters worse, the one thing that she could always depend on – genius astrological readings from her idol, Mark Ainsley-Thomas – is even beginning to fail her.

At a crossroads in her life and starting a career as a full-time writer, Katherine cannot believe that the readings from the world-renowned astrologist are failing to guide her through this tumultuous time.

She sends an email to Mark’s webpage, venting her frustration at the recent unhelpful readings.

Little does Katherine know that Mark’s busy publicity schedule and his overbearing agent are taking over his life and that he has hired an assistant astrologist, James, to take over the readings.

James, returning to astrology after a failed business career and disastrous marriage, is also at a vulnerable stage in his life and reacts angrily when he receives Katherine’s emails criticising his work.

Their heated email exchange reveals the frustrations in both their lives but the reappearance of Mark Ainsley-Thomas helps to smooth this friction over, and Katherine and James begin a tentative friendship which soon blossoms into something much more.

Katherine, James and Mark realise just how small the world is when their complicated lives become forever entangled.

Amidst the chaos of their lives, including a cat named No. 4, a local writing group, a difficult ex, an old war veteran named Jake, a potential book deal and a last-minute trip to LA, will there ever be a happy ever after for Katherine and James…?

Under The Stars‘Under the Stars’ is a gentle, often humorous story about newly redundant Katherine. Struggling to see her career disaster as an opportunity, she needs the support of her personal horoscopes, which are uncharacteristically confusing. Feeling alone and cheated she is forced to widen her support circle. Katherine is not in a good place but her self-depreciating humour, lack of self- esteem and willingness to help others, soon endears her to the reader.

James’ life appears blighted by failure. Standing in for resident astrological genius Mark is something to pay the bills, whilst he evaluates his life. The scene is set for a fateful meeting and a roller-coaster of an emotional ride, for our unlikely couple.

The pacing is steady and lets you appreciate the beautifully crafted characters, which enhance the love story and make it special. No 4, Katherine’s feline companion is a delight and so true to life, the nuances of cat behaviour captured perfectly. The animated, realistic supporting cast, make this a really interesting, worthwhile read with a happy, romantic ending. I can’t wait to read ‘Quintessentially Yours’ to find out what happens next.

I won a copy of this book from the author in a giveaway.

My Review -1

Falling Angels Among Us The Complete SeriesI originally read the Angels Among Us Series in the three separate novellas: Falling, Forbidden and Forever. Read my 5* review of these, posted yesterday, by clicking on the link:

5* Review of Falling Angels Among Us #1-3

Then I found out the complete series version contains bonus chapters, which tell us what happens next. So here is my review of those and my thoughts on the whole series.

Additional scenes.

My initial thoughts when I read the first page of the bonus chapters was disappointment. Then I realised what happened only concerned the last chapter in ‘Forever’ and not the whole story.

The story continues with angst and heart-rending scenes that make a happy- ever- after, for Ceri and Alex seem impossible. Thankfully this isn’t an ordinary story.

I recommend this series, in its individual parts, or the complete series, with the additional scenes.

It’s a must read for those of us, who don’t need to see to believe, the true romantics.

Paranormal My Review

Falling: HarperImpulse Paranormal Romance Novella (Angels Among Us, Book 1)‘Falling’ is the first in a trilogy about Ceri, whose name gives us a clue to her true identity. The connection with Ceri is immediate; she’s a good person, who wants to make a difference but struggles because she feels like a cuckoo in the nest. Ceri experiences extraordinary contact in an understated, believable way. Like Ceri, you are aware something out of the ordinary is going on but it’s in your peripheral vision and you can’t quite make it out. It’s scary, if you don’t acknowledge it; maybe you can put it down to a daydream.

Ceri’s relationship with her twin Seb, is interesting, they are yin and yang. Seb struggles to understand the ‘other’ side of Ceri but loves her anyway. Alex is a work colleague but their bond is stronger than that, even though they don’t socialise out of work. Desperation makes Ceri share her secret with Alex who has one of his own which he can’t share with her. The ending is happy for now but you question how long this will be the case with Ceri last experience.

This is a feel good, easy to read story about faith and love in all its forms. I’m looking forward to ‘Forbidden’ the second in the series.

Paranormal My Review

Forbidden (Angels Among Us, #2)Ceri’s realises her true identity but is saddened. It threatens her future with Alex, who she accepts is not the same as her, although he does possess special qualities and is important to her future. Ceri and Alex respond in a totally human way to their situation and the reader is right there with them. hoping they can beat the odds.

Ceri’s new found knowledge makes her gifts more understandable as she begins to fulfil her destiny. There are some wonderfully poignant passages in this story.

Fate intervenes and reveals Alex’s secret. Dramatic irony means the readers know what it is but Ceri doesn’t.

This story has another crescendo ending making me pick up ‘Forever’ the last in the series straight away. I have to know what happens.

I received a copy of Forbidden from Harper Impulse via NetGalley in return for an honest review. I have included it with my reviews of the other two books in the series, which I bought.

Paranormal My ReviewForever (Angels Among Us #3)The final part of the trilogy picks up where ‘Forbidden’ ends. Alex can’t find Ceri, he should have shared his secret and now the truth has lost him his soul mate. Ceri’s psychic encounter with Alicia bought everything into painfully, clear focus. Ceri can’t cheat destiny. Ceri’s hopelessness in the early chapters of ‘Forever’ is tangible. Her ability to help others becomes the focus of her human existence and mitigates her emotional distress. The story’s poignancy continues and intensifies in this last part and it’s hard to predict, which way fate will take Ceri and Alex and if they have any control over their future. The ending is unexpected and fulfilling but there is a final twist that echoes the title.

I loved reading this uplifting, perceptive series and look forward to the continuation of Ceri’s journey.
