The Demon Seeds- 4*Review-Derek Muk

Taylor and Jan have an edgy, exhilarating and dangerous occupation: they’re monster hunters. While they’ve endured many strange adventures in their Southern California/Los Angeles area turf, their latest is as harrowing as it gets….for they are about to encounter the nefarious bubog, the demonic offspring of the cult leader Bubog, an entity carrying the seed of the Dark Prince himself, and he is trying to impregnate as many human women he could lay his hands on. While the intrepid monster hunters track the bubog down in an attempt to put an end to their evil scourge, Jan learns that her best friend, Carol, has been initiated into their cult and the two must save her before she too gives birth to one of these abominations. But can they save her? And can they rid our world forever of these diabolical Demon Seeds before it’s too late?

My Thoughts…

This is a short read, it took me about half an hour to complete, and so it’s the perfect book for reading on your phone. I haven’t read any of ‘The Occult Files of Albert Taylor’ but it is easy to get into, so important for short stories.

There is an interesting relationship between Taylor and his graduate student Jan,  who is clever but full of youthful innocence. There is a sense of Taylor studying her because a couple of times he talks about capturing her actions or expression in a photograph.

The writing is atmospheric and image-driven. It reads, like a graphic novel without the pictures, and its fast pace builds tension and enhances the action sequences. The monster hunters are akin to the demon hunters in the ‘Supernatural’ series and will appeal to readers who enjoy this type of fiction.

I received a copy of this book from the author in return for an honest review.

Found: One Secret Baby

If you enjoy the secret baby trope, with a liberal sprinkling of passionate romance, this story will appeal. Rosalie is an independent, strong character, who has always put her life on hold for people she loves; first her chronically ill mother and then to bring up the young son of a friend who tragically died. She is genuine and selfless and an easy character to root for.
Morgan is from old money and used to getting what he wants. Ruled by duty, he is determined to locate his step brother’s child. He keeps his heart hidden and pushes the emotional and physical abuse of his childhood, to the back of his mind. This makes him appear brusque and unfeeling but when you see things from his point of view, it’s clear he is an emotional man.
The simple plot has elements of menace, which make you shudder, balanced by lots of light-hearted moments with the charming Joey and Rosalie. The romance between Rosalie and Morgan is stormy and full of misunderstanding but the ending is romantic and satisfying.

Winter My Review

The Summer Flings Travel Book

Originally published as serial parts, this is the full collection of Ciara, Elle and Gem’s summer adventures.
LA is the first delicious slice of fun and flirty mayhem for Ciara, Elle and Gem. The Oxford graduates leave their studies behind and set off on a backpacking tour of the world. LA is the first stop. Believe me if I could experience backpacking in the style these three do I would be first in line.
The setting is glitzy and glamorous, seen from Ciara’s point of view. Elle and Gem are trust fund babes but Ciara is different and looking at celebrity lifestyle through her eyes grounds this story in a pleasing way.
The three friends are likeable characters. Elle and Gem appear shallow but I suspect their individual stories will make the women beneath the public face, complex and interesting. Ciara is intelligent and attractive but a little scared of living. Elle and Gem care about her and want her to have fun and that’s what a trip of a lifetime should be right?
It couldn’t be a summer fling without a hot man and Zack certainly fulfils the role. Serious and sexy Ciara finds him hard to resist but is this just a fling or something more, guess we’ll have to see what happens in Miami.
LA is full of humorous, realistic, dialogue. I was ready to jump in their luggage after enjoying the pool and the party, eager to see what happens at the next destination of their adventure.
In Miami Ciara, Elle and Gem determined to enjoy the full beach and bar experience. Ciara has left a little of her heart back in LA but her friends won’t let her brood. Her ability to drink with the best of them wins her the undying gratitude of her friends and the chance of some extra holiday spending money.
Our Oxford graduates eager for new learning experiences enlist the help of three beach hotties to further their education. Zack in all his furious glory gatecrashes the girls’ impromptu pool party with their new friends. Zack addictive attraction for Ciara continues… The ice cream scene is definitely a must read.
There’s shopping, steamy sex and sun in this episode of ‘Summer Flings’ and an enticing taste of mystery…
Paris, the city of art, fashion and romance, is not what it first appears. Ciara is miserable without Zack and watching loving couples is the last thing she wants. Elle won’t let her brood and soon they are at an exclusive club, whilst the champagne flows, the mood darkens and soon the girls are in a living nightmare. This is definitely the cautionary part of the tale and an unexpected, if stormy encounter for Ciara leaves her wanting more.
In Santorini, the geeks go Greek and Ciara can’t wait to explore but Elle and Gem want to relax and enjoy the spa experience. Luckily for Ciara there is a surprise visitor. Full of humour and sizzling sensuality, the magic of the Greek Islands is much in evidence here.
Ibiza, the party island and the girls are determined to experience it all, more fun in the sun and maybe something more for Ciara.
Florence, the climax to their trip but there is more angst than fun here. Ciara’s emotional baggage makes her shy away from what she has with Zack with disastrous results for all of them.
Back home in Dublin, reality sets in and Ciara wonders what to do with the rest of her life. I love the email format of this section of the book, keeping it fast paced, yet showing what was happening in each of their lives. Gone are the fun and glamour of the previous chapters. Ciara finally confronts the reason behind her emotional detachment and there is a lovely romantic ending that shows that love is worth fighting for.
A book of contrasts, which work really well together, it’s easy reading with lots of humour, sizzle and emotion, the perfect summer book.

My Review

Strong characters, an original plot, sensual romance and a suspenseful twist kept me turning the pages of ‘Chasing Dreams’; Sky is a typical new adult heroine, running from a tragic loss she decides the only way is forward and sets off to the bright light of LA to realise her dreams as a professional singer.
Serendipity and a great best friend play a part in Logan and Sky’s meeting but the instantaneous attraction is down the them. The passion between them dominates their developing relationship and makes for some memorable love scenes.
Logan is controlling and I find this trait irritating but his caring nature and deepening love for Sky redeems him for me, as the story progresses.
Sky is independent and tenacious and easy to like. Her obvious physical attraction to Logan reveals her vulnerable side but when he oversteps, her feisty nature returns and demands his respect.
The suspense element enhances the story and contrasts with the sensuous romance. Well paced,it probably won’t turn out like you expected, which is always the mark of a good book.

Author Bio 2016- 2

Alison Mello (1)Alison Mello is a wife and stay at home mom to a wonderful little boy. She lives with her amazing family in Massachusetts. She loves playing soccer, basketball and football with her son.

After having her son, Alison started reading again and fell in love with Contemporary Romance. Reading made her happy and gave her something to do when she had downtime. As she started to read more, she started to noticed things she really enjoyed in a book and things she didn’t. She began to have ideas for writing one of her own. One day she literally woke up and started writing. She realized that if there was ever a time for her to write, it was now. She had a part time job to give her something to do. The hours at work were slow and she was bored with what she was doing, so while her son was off enjoying his friends over summer vacation she got started.

Alison finished the first book in two weeks and decided that she really enjoyed writing, so she kept going. She already had ideas in mind for books two and three, so she kept writing. That is how the Learning to Love Series was born. Somewhere along the line, one of my Beta readers convinced me that Michael, a character from Finding Love, needed his own story. That is when Alison added the fourth and final book. Alison hopes you enjoy her books as much as she enjoyed writing them.

She’s so glad she started this writing journey and hopes you will stay with her for the ride. Chasing Dreams is scheduled to release in April and the first two books of the Love Conquers Life series will be out this summer!

Alison Mello Thank you for choosing to read my book. I am a wife and stay at home mom to two wonderful children. My family is my world and one of the reasons I started writing was so I could be home for them. I was born in raised in Massachusetts where I still live today with my amazing family.

As a child and young adult I was never a big reader and I think it was because I never found a genre or a series I really enjoyed. After having my son fell in love with Contemporary Romance and I have built up quite the collection since then. As I started to read more, I started to notice things I really enjoyed in a book and things I didn’t and realizing what I didn’t enjoy really made me want to write more.

I literally woke up one morning and started writing. I was bored and unhappy with what I was doing in life and since I had an idea in mind for the start of a book, I sat down and went for it. Breaking A Bad BoyMy Review

Breaking A Bad Boy’ is another fabulous story in the ‘Bad Boys’ series. Sommer is a bold, feisty heroine and Rory is such a sexy, principled cowboy. Light the touch-paper and stand well back as this dynamite couple battle their way towards happy ever after.

Rory and Sommer’s romance is the antithesis of Brandon and Mia’s love story, not a collar in sight but there is plenty of scorching heat in this erotic romantic tale.

Rory wants to marry Sommer and won’t give them both what they want until she agrees. Despite his edict about no sex before marriage this story about the youngest of the McLemore men and his ink artist girlfriend Sommer is erotic and brimming with sensual tension. Sommer persuades her honourable cowboy to love her every which way he can without compromising his values.

Ivy and Vince are notable secondary characters. Love to see more of their love story in another book.

In a story of rock stars, gangsters and a taste of Hollywood glitz there is danger lurking for Sommer and the town of Annona when organised crime rears its ugly head.

Can  the infamous McLemore family loyalty save Rory and Sommer’s romantic dream?

A sexy, page turning read and a wonderful addition to the Bad Boys series
