Happy Release Day – A Moment to Love – Jennifer Faye – ( A Whistle Stop Romance #1)

24329668BLURBWelcome to Whistle Stop…where anything can and most likely will happen.

The notorious cowboy meets his match…

Cord Lawson instantly distrusted the young woman in a smart suit who’d just arrived in Whistle Stop. She was very pretty and clearly a city girl–but with memories of his failed marriage still darkening his mind, he’s determined to steer clear! But she’s sniffing around his land–land that has been in his family for generations. There was no way he’d let it go–even if the bank was threatening to foreclose, and even if selling could give Whistle Stop a new lease on life.

Alexis Greer had one mission–close the deal on the Lawson ranch; without it, her father’s land development company would go bankrupt. But the word around town is to keep clear of Cord and to stay away from his precious land. What had happened to cause such a handsome cowboy to live such a solitary existence? However, determination was Lexi’s middle name. She just had to keep on trying to breach Cord’s barriers, to appeal somehow to his head and heart–even if it put her in danger of losing both of hers…to him.

My Review 2
A Princess by Christmas‘A Princess by Christmas’ is a lovely romantic fairytale, perfect for curling up by a crackling log fire on a winter’s afternoon.

Reese is an independent but emotionally vulnerable heroine. Alex is a dashing prince who turns up at Reese’s family inn, incognito. A teenage mistake that led to family tragedy rules Alex’s adult life, making him live by a duty first maxim.

I loved the traditional qualities of this gentle story, the importance of family, loyalty and helping others. All of these were conveyed within the modern setting of a city based inn and a dreamy Mediterranean kingdom.

The chemistry between Alex and Reese is the smouldering kind. Circumstances and proximity combine and result in steamy passion delivered in a sweetly romantic way, in keeping with the story’s fairytale world.

Reese is an easy character to like as she struggles with inherited debt and her mother’s emotional collapse. Alex is touched by her plight but also by her tenacity and willingness to put others, including him before her own comfort. She is no sugary, sweet heroine, which makes her refreshingly realistic. She can be controlling and impetuous but given the obstacles she faces, this isn’t surprising.

Do Alex and Reese have a fairytale ‘happy ever after’? Read this delightful story to find out. It has the perfect ‘will she’, ‘won’t she’ magical ending guaranteed to keep you reading. You won’t be disappointed.

I received a copy of this book from the author.

5* Review: The Return of the Rebel – Jennifer Faye

The Return of the Rebel

‘The Return of the Rebel’ by Jennifer Faye was last week’s Friday read. Here’s what it’s about:

The guy from the wrong side of the tracks…

Being promoted should be a dream come true, only it means working closely with Cleo’s childhood crush, Jax Monroe. Jax may no longer be the rebel she remembers, but he still gets her heart racing like no other.

Jax cares too much about Cleo to let her get too close—but keeping his distance is proving impossible! As Jax reveals the extent of what he’s been through, will Cleo show him that some things are too precious to put off until tomorrow?

Return of the Rebel releases on 1 July 2014:

My Review

‘The Return of the Rebel’ is a lovely sweet romance with memorable, likeable characters and a lively plot with dangerous undercurrents.
Cleo the only girl in a family of ranchers knows their lifestyle is not for her. Las Vegas is the polar opposite of Hope Springs but Cleo weighed down by other people’s expectations and a tragic secret is determined to make a new life there. Serendipity brings her face to face with Jax her teenage crush and now the client she must impress to succeed.
Jax left Hope Springs without a backward glance, anxious to leave behind tragic memories and the feeling of never being good enough. Luck and hard work made him wealthy beyond his expectations but illness and an impending court case leave him more vulnerable than he would choose.
Danger forces Cleo into close proximity with Jax rekindling her teenage crush into love. Unfortunately Jax’s inner doubts and the fallout of his secrets jeopardize their fledgling relation.
Powerful romance, great characters and a strong thread of suspense make this story a pleasure to read.
I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.

So here goes:

What Am I Working On At The Moment?

The second book in The Dragon Legacy series which is Jasmine and Zane’s adventure. I currently have a poll running to help me decide the title for this new story.

Here’s a little about the story  and setting:

‘Zane hasn’t seen Jasmine since their passionate encounter in Hallow House’s moonlit garden. After his abrupt departure Zane travels around the supernatural world spreading the news about the infant dragon. In Venice he meets Larna a dragon and sister of his friend Lukas the dragon lord. After a night meeting with paranormal creatures Zane returns to Larna’s palazzo and discovers she is locked in combat with an evil entity which looks alarmingly familiar.

Jasmine ‘s life has lost its sparkle since Zane loved and left her. Moping is not in her nature so she continues to be the life force of Hallow House’s Murder Mystery weekends and clandestine paranormal activities. At night her sleep is filled with images of Zane and their brief passionate encounter. One night the dream changes Zane is in danger and Jasmine must find him.’

‘I decided on the Italian Lakes and Venice for Jasmine and Zane’s romantic adventure.

How Does My Work Differ From Others Of The Genre?

The Dragon Legacy CoverThe Dragon Legacy combines fantasy and paranormal romance. My stories take place in  the human world  but there is crossover  with the paranormal dimension.

One reviewer called The Dragon Legacy a quirky fantasy romance, a label which I like and agree with.  Nothing is what it seems on first acquaintance and every character hides behind a masque to protect their true self.

My stories are urban fantasy meets fairytale with a little apocalyptic drama thrown in.

Why Do I Write What I Do?

I write about things that interest me. As a new writer I am still experimenting to see what I write best and enjoy the most.

The Dragon Legacy evolved over a period of six months before I knew where the story was going and what the end would be. Although I am a planner and a control freak in most things, when I write  I may plan in my head but I also let my imagination run free.  I think this makes my stories unique and okay a little quirky.

Aside from paranormal/fantasy romance I am also writing a contemporary romantic suspense and a Gothic historical story which I flit between as the mood takes me.

I love paranormal  and Regency Historical novels maybe my next project might combine the two???

I find it difficult to restrain my stories to one or two main characters.  I try but in my first drafts secondary characters are always far more prominent than the traditional romance genre allows.

How Does Your Writing Process Work?

Not sure I have one.  I aim to write every day and I do but not always the story I should be writing. I work best under pressure so I like deadlines because they make me finish things. I am easily distracted and there are lots of family members filling up my space to encourage this trait. I am aiming to write four stories a year let’s see how it goes for 2014.

And now to the lovely writers I am inviting to the next stage of the My Writing Process Blog Hop:

5* Review: Safe In The Tycoon’s Arms Jennifer Faye

Safe in the Tycoon's ArmsI was fortunate to be sent an advanced copy of Jennifer Faye’s latest romance; Safe in the Tycoon’s Arms by the author last week.  I really enjoyed reading it as you will see from my review below. Here’s what the book’s about:

The man behind the headlines…

When billionaire Lucas Carrington returns to his New York mansion, he never expects to find beautiful stranger Kate Whitley making herself at home. Invited by his aunt to stay, he soon discovers she’s a woman in need. She’s raising funds for her sick daughter, so he agrees to let her stay–temporarily!

Kate may not belong in Lucas’s high-society world, but she sees there is more to this tycoon than the headlines suggest. Yet with so much at stake, can she trust herself and her heart with New York’s most sought-after bachelor?

My Review

Safe in the Tycoon’s Arms is a poignant, romantic tale.

Kate is a single mother whose life consists of constant hurdles. The most devastating being her young daughter’s serious illness. A fortuitous meeting with Connie a volunteer at the hospital where her daughter is being treated results in a serendipitous meeting with Lucas. The enigmatic CEO of Carrington Gems returns to his Manhattan mansion much earlier than planned not knowing Connie his aunt has persuaded Kate to stay there too.

Kate and Lucas’ explosive chemistry and destructive mistrust of each other’s motives ensure their fledgling relationship is conflict ridden. Kate has no time for anyone but her daughter. Lucas refuses to let anyone into his life again after his disastrous marriage and the loss of contact with his young daughter.

Mutual need and respect builds between the emotionally fragile pair and Lucas helps Kate raise the money for daughter’s treatment without losing her pride or independence.

Living in the same house Kate and Lucas’ relationship deepens but can it have a future when they are both keeping secrets and holding back from true emotional commitment?

The characters embroil you in their turmoil. Kate is a strong woman and you empathise with her trust issues. The plot is interesting and keeps you guessing as to whether Kate and Lucas find the loving relationship they both deserve.

Safe in the Tycoon’s Arms is an enticing mix of sweet romance edged with harsh reality and gives you the happy ever after the characters work for and deserve.

I received an advance copy of this book from the author.
