Furious, she changes her mind and proposes a sexy wager instead: if she can turn the business around, she gets the distillery. If she fails he gets her shares – and anything he wants in the bedroom…including her heart

My Thoughts…

‘Take Me On’ is more erotica than erotic romance, a series of explicit, risque liaisons linked together with a plot featuring a woman who believes ‘it’s possible to turn round any business opportunity, even if you have no knowledge of the basics of the business.

It’s not a bad read, the chemistry between Antonio and Kenzie is hot, but I like there to be a love story too. The romance and the emotional involvement seems to be more of an add on here, than an intrinsic part of the book.

My Review - Coastal

This story explores the sexual fantasy concept in a deeper, darker way. Using an alter ego the fantasies are more risqué and there is always the ‘get out’ alternative at the end of each chapter. I enjoyed reading this essentially, light hearted series of shorts and the concept remains innovative and original, something that is refreshing in the erotica genre.
There is even a ‘fantasy map’ at the end of the book to ensure you haven’t missed anything.
If you like to explore the adult  fantasies of others, this is definitely worth a read.

Follow your Fantasy: Deeper – Nicola Jane- Guest Post

Adult Read

Today, I have erotica author Nicola Jane on my blog.  I reviewed Nicola’s first book from Harper Impulse ‘Follow your Fantasy’ and now the journey continues with Follow your Fantasy: Deeper.

86967-6 Follow your fantasy Deeper

Going Deeper

‘Follow your Fantasy: Deeper picks up a short time after the first book ends. When I got the offer from Harper Impulse, I had actually already written about 9,000 words of a totally different, mythical themed, choose-your-own-adventure format book. But then I decided it was too different from Follow Your Fantasy and that there was more to say about the world of this modern reality-dwelling “You.”

Second book syndrome is very real. It’s much harder to write when there are expectations, from readers, from your publisher, from yourself. When I wrote Follow Your Fantasy, I just did it for fun, for escape, for my own amusement. But Follow Your Fantasy: Deeper, gave me total writer’s block for months and took over three times longer to write. I had to really dig deep mentally to get there, with the occasional flash of blessed inspiration for scenes that I have no idea where they came from. There’s some pretty edgy stuff in this one… Rumpelstiltskin makes an appearance!

Because the books are choose-your-own-adventure, the central character “You” is, in essence, blank so the readers can fill her in in their own image. Yet, she still has some character of her own – risk-taking, daring. I wanted to explore the character of “You”, particularly her relationship with the other female character, Giselle. For me, it’s their relationship that the books are really about. Giselle isn’t just a lookalike, she’s a device “You” uses to give herself (or yourself, the reader) the permission to go to some pretty extreme places. But what makes her tick? Is she just a character of her own invention too? I think we start to find out a bit more about her, but it depends which branches of the story you take as to what you find out. As for “You”, she starts to go off on her own adventures, less reliant on Giselle, but still very linked.

The book takes some paths deeper into the realm of sexual fantasy and I read a book called Garden of Desires by Emily Dubberley which collects women’s fantasies and groups them into categories. Like dominance, masochism, voyeurism etc and I realised I had been writing a lot of scenes that fall under the exhibitionism category. That gave me a lot to think about! But that’s the point of erotica, to explore things from a safe perspective, to go deeper into your own fantasies.

I was also writing through a time in my life where I was having one of the deepest, in the sense of profound, experiences because I was pregnant for the first, and so far only, time. The last third of the book and all edits and rewrites were completed during my middle trimester. It’s not that pregnancy can’t be a sexy time, but it’s a bit odd now, with a ten-month old baby boy, to be remembering things I was writing when he was in utero!’

Photo-Nicola-Jane-218x247Wanderlust has been my main life force for the last ten years flitting from country to country (7 and counting) but, now I’ve managed to tie myself down in Madrid for a while, I’m operating more on the lust part with writing Erotica and dabbling in multiple dating and open relationships. I’ve never had an English boyfriend so my male romantic protagonists tend to be influenced by the Latin charms. Men I meet keep telling me I should write about them in my books. One or two might have made it already. One or two more are always welcome. – See more at: http://www.harperimpulseromance.com/authors/nicola-jane/

Spotlight and 4* Review: Lost Desires -Rachael Orman

22907238

After ten years of marriage, Ian and Brittany are in a rut. Their life together has become routine, no longer filled with fun and spontaneity. And their love life? Non-existent.

Longing to break the dull, repeating pattern that is her life, Brittany looks to a friend for some advice on how to put some spice back into her marriage.

Her friend’s advice? A hands on, in home sex therapist.

Brittany brushes her off at first, but after another night of unexciting sex, she’ll try anything…ANYTHING to save her love life, even if it is an unconventional route. Journey through the ups and downs of love, life, and lust with Brittany, Ian, and their sex therapist.

**Warning: Intended for 18+ for graphic sex & language**

My Review 2

This erotic novella delivers exactly what the blurb promises. It’s easy to imagine yourself in Brittany’s position if you’re married and have kids. Keeping the chemistry going when there are so many competing demands for your time, is not easy. Her sex life is not the only thing lacking in her life, most of the time she feels like she’s bringing the kids up on her own as well as having a career. Ian her hardworking but insulated husband appears satisfied with their physical relationship but is he really?

Brittany expresses her emotions in a realistic way. You understand how deep her unhappiness is when she accepts her close friend’s advice and contacts a sex therapist. You feel her embarrassment when she speaks to a stranger about her sex life. Her husband Ian accepts the sex therapist’s intervention far more readily than Brittany would have expected. Maybe this is an indication that he too was unhappy with their relationship?
The scenes with the sex therapists are graphic and erotically written but portray Brittany’s medley of emotions beautifully.

‘Lost Desires’ is undeniably hot but also poignant and grounded a lovely mix of fantasy ‘what if’ and reality.
Definitely a mature adult read.

I received a copy of this novella from the author in exchange for an honest review.

5* Review Collared By The Cowboy Susan Arden

Collared By The Cowboy is the latest in Susan Arden’s Bad Boys series and deals with the darker side of relationships and addiction.  Here’s what it’s about. Please note the disclaimer below:

The following story is intended for an adult audience and contains mature themes, strong language including graphically detailed sex, violence, and drug use portrayed in a fictional setting.

The room at the end of the hall in Spurs & Leather, a private club in Paris hasn’t seen any action of late. Brandon as head Dom locked the doors after his last lover burned him good. Diving into his work at Evermore Ranch, he’s got his hands filled with taming wild horses until a red-leather wearing woman crosses his path. Tempted back into the saddle, he sets his sights on taming a different type of filly…one with a sassy little mouth, a mind of her own, and hot body that won’t quit. He’s got the goods, if she willing to let him take the lead both in and out of bed.

Last semester of grad school and all Mia needs is a stellar thesis that will skyrocket her chances of landing a therapist job somewhere far, far away from small towns and small minds. Case studies in female sexuality sure as hell aren’t the ticket out of Texas and Mia sets her sights on learning all she can about why women enjoy being dominated–thank you fifty shades of I’m out of here by May! Undercover, she enters the secretive BDSM world within a club known to offer decadent delights. With one minor SNAFU: she becomes the target of the head Dom, a man with a reputation of equal parts bark and bite. When the door marked no is thrown open by one commanding cowboy, Mia can’t resist temptation waiting on the other side.

Now, Mia is wearing Brandon’s collar, calling him Sir, and loving every minute of being dominated by her powerful lover. Yet Mia can’t have her cake and eat it too. Torn, she must decide if her future involves walking away from Brandon when her heart is telling her to stay, stay, stay.

My Review

Collared by the CowboyThe latest story in Susan Arden’ s Bad Boys series is the darkest she has written. This book is an adult read and not for those who are easily shocked but that said it is a compelling story full of heat and emotion.

Brandon leads a double life. He breeds and trains horses on the Evermore Ranch but also part owns a sex club. His shadow life lets him be his true self the one he hides from his close-knit family but lately being one of the club’s Dom’s hasn’t gone to plan.

Mia wants to escape from being her father’s princess. She needs her grad school degree to do it. First she has to complete her thesis and carrying out research at a sex club is a necessary evil.

After a stormy first meeting full of heat and misunderstanding Brandon insists he is the only one to show Mia what happens in the club. He longs to tame her but will she cede to his dominance ? After visually sampling some of the club’s activities Mia is intrigued but can she objectively carry out her research given her magnetic attraction to Brandon. In the name of science Mia agrees to wear Brandon’s collar but there is fine line between observing and participation and her emotions make it hard not to cross the line.

The ethos of the club and the roles played within its inner sanctum are absorbing. Shocking and graphic but like a horror movie you have to read what happens next even if it’s through half closed eyes. The antagonist’s actions demonstrate the evils of drug abuse in a thoughtful believable way.

The McLemore’s enhance the story with cameo appearances and soften its gritty edges with their understanding and support of Brandon and Mia. Selma and Esme the twins are also important characters used cleverly to show Mia’s skill and Brandon’s softer side and illustrate the vulnerability of girls and women.

Collared by the Cowboy combines a deeply emotional love story, the light in a dark world full of abuse and desperation. A must read for all fans of erotica and erotic romance.

4* Review Follow Your Fantasy Nicola Jane

Follow Your FantasyFollow Your Fantasy’s concept that you the reader chooses which fantasy to pursue intrigued me. I am not generally a fan of erotica preferring erotic romance which has a definite story line and real emotional connection between the characters.

In this collection of stories truth, dare and consequences all feature. So it will appeal to fans of risk free risqué entertainment. ‘Follow Your Fantasy’ provides the reader with an adult interpretation of the ‘What If… scenario.

Pure escapism for the mature adult it is explicit. The kind of book most people would probably blush reading in any public setting. That said it is entertaining and well written and the alternatives offered to the reader at the end of each scene range from flirty to scorching hot and extraordinary so it has something for all tastes.

‘Follow Your Fantasy’ could be the catalyst for some very interesting truth and dare party games but you would certainly have to pick your companions carefully… Only joking.

If you enjoy erotic romance and want to experience the erotic without the happy ever after then I would recommend you give ‘Follow Your Fantasy’ a chance.

I received a copy of this book from Harper Collins UK – Harper Impulse via NetGalley in return for an honest review.
