Winter My Review

The Summer Flings Travel Book

Originally published as serial parts, this is the full collection of Ciara, Elle and Gem’s summer adventures.
LA is the first delicious slice of fun and flirty mayhem for Ciara, Elle and Gem. The Oxford graduates leave their studies behind and set off on a backpacking tour of the world. LA is the first stop. Believe me if I could experience backpacking in the style these three do I would be first in line.
The setting is glitzy and glamorous, seen from Ciara’s point of view. Elle and Gem are trust fund babes but Ciara is different and looking at celebrity lifestyle through her eyes grounds this story in a pleasing way.
The three friends are likeable characters. Elle and Gem appear shallow but I suspect their individual stories will make the women beneath the public face, complex and interesting. Ciara is intelligent and attractive but a little scared of living. Elle and Gem care about her and want her to have fun and that’s what a trip of a lifetime should be right?
It couldn’t be a summer fling without a hot man and Zack certainly fulfils the role. Serious and sexy Ciara finds him hard to resist but is this just a fling or something more, guess we’ll have to see what happens in Miami.
LA is full of humorous, realistic, dialogue. I was ready to jump in their luggage after enjoying the pool and the party, eager to see what happens at the next destination of their adventure.
In Miami Ciara, Elle and Gem determined to enjoy the full beach and bar experience. Ciara has left a little of her heart back in LA but her friends won’t let her brood. Her ability to drink with the best of them wins her the undying gratitude of her friends and the chance of some extra holiday spending money.
Our Oxford graduates eager for new learning experiences enlist the help of three beach hotties to further their education. Zack in all his furious glory gatecrashes the girls’ impromptu pool party with their new friends. Zack addictive attraction for Ciara continues… The ice cream scene is definitely a must read.
There’s shopping, steamy sex and sun in this episode of ‘Summer Flings’ and an enticing taste of mystery…
Paris, the city of art, fashion and romance, is not what it first appears. Ciara is miserable without Zack and watching loving couples is the last thing she wants. Elle won’t let her brood and soon they are at an exclusive club, whilst the champagne flows, the mood darkens and soon the girls are in a living nightmare. This is definitely the cautionary part of the tale and an unexpected, if stormy encounter for Ciara leaves her wanting more.
In Santorini, the geeks go Greek and Ciara can’t wait to explore but Elle and Gem want to relax and enjoy the spa experience. Luckily for Ciara there is a surprise visitor. Full of humour and sizzling sensuality, the magic of the Greek Islands is much in evidence here.
Ibiza, the party island and the girls are determined to experience it all, more fun in the sun and maybe something more for Ciara.
Florence, the climax to their trip but there is more angst than fun here. Ciara’s emotional baggage makes her shy away from what she has with Zack with disastrous results for all of them.
Back home in Dublin, reality sets in and Ciara wonders what to do with the rest of her life. I love the email format of this section of the book, keeping it fast paced, yet showing what was happening in each of their lives. Gone are the fun and glamour of the previous chapters. Ciara finally confronts the reason behind her emotional detachment and there is a lovely romantic ending that shows that love is worth fighting for.
A book of contrasts, which work really well together, it’s easy reading with lots of humour, sizzle and emotion, the perfect summer book.

5*:Review Misbehaving in Miami-Aimeé Duffy – Summer Flings #2

22724321The girls are off to a beach house to catch some rays – and if they play their cards right – super hot guys!

With drinking games in the name of Gucci, a surprise visit from a very pissed off Zack and hunks galore, Miami is turning into their best stop yet. Not to mention Ciara finally comes up with a way to have her cake and eat it too!

The ideal summer treat for those relaxing days soaking up the sun!

5* Review What a Girl Needs Aimee Duffy

The second in the Indecent Proposals series What a Girl Needs is equally as good as the first in the series What’s a Girl To Do? which I read and reviewed last year. Here’s  what I thought of Georgia’s story:

My Review

What a Girl Needs (Indecent Proposals, #2)The second in the Indecent Proposals series What a Girl Needs grabs your interest from the first page and won’t let go until you’ve finished reading the whole story and are lying exhausted on the floor.

Georgia is an engaging character used to fighting her own battles a glass half full woman who likes to be in control. Therein lies her problem or so her tasty and interested boss Max tells her when he finds her revealing cry for help in the form of an unsent email on her computer for anyone to read.

This story is full of humour as Georgia tries to respond in a politically correct way to Max’s indecent but tempting proposal. The sexual heat between Georgia and Max is scorching from the first flickers of sensual tension to the explosion of desire when they pretend to be a couple. This cleverly written novella manages to weave in plenty of internal and external conflict to keep the reader on tenterhooks and the ending is sweet even though the story is erotic.

A great fun read short enough to read on the train journey to work. Go on I dare you.

Release Day Blitz: A Week in Milan – Aimée Duffy

What a lovely way to start the week. A trip to the Milan; the city with a stunning cathedral and exclusive fashion shopping. I have Aimée Duffy here to talk about her latest release and giveaway.
Thank you for letting me stop by Jane! To celebrate the release of A Week in Milan, I’m giving away a mini-Kobo and a signed copy of Isle of Sensuality, the first book Amanda from A Week in Milan makes an appearance in!

Here’s a little about the story…

Getting what she wants isn’t going to be easy…

Designer department store owner Giovanni Monastero thought moving to LA would help him forget the nightmare of his childhood. Until he visits Milan during Fashion Week with one of their designers he doesn’t realize how much his past still haunts him.

Fashion designer Amanda Hart has been chewed up and spat out by her son’s father. The only dating she does now is in her dreams. None of the guys she fantasizes about can hurt her. When the star of those fantasies offers her the career chance of a lifetime “no” isn’t an option even though it means spending a week in close contact with him.

With one dream coming true, will Amanda have the courage to go after another?
Content Warning: contains smoldering sex, enough doubt to keep an island afloat, and more persuasion than a guy should need.

5* Review What’s a Girl to Do? Aimée Duffy

What's a Girl to Do? (Indecent Proposals #1)

After reading and loving ‘Sinfully Summer’ I couldn’t wait to see what Ms Duffy could do with an erotic romance and I wasn’t disappointed.

What’s a Girl to Do? is a scalding hot read. What makes it memorable is the romance.

Unwanted by her supermodel mother Shey’s attitude to men, sex and relationships is tainted. The need to control every variable means Shey’s romantic encounters lack spontaneity.

Player Calvin hides a fragile heart. Devastated by his ex-wife. He vows he will never lose his heart, reputation or wealth to a woman again.

The scene is set the control freak meets the ice man.

Their first encounter will make you shiver and remember. The humour and sexual tension are beautifully written.

Despite her tangible fear Shey loses control in the most intimate way possible. Shey agrees to a relationship but only with rules. Calvin forgoes his dating embargo. He can’t risk losing her. He wants her subservient but soon finds the tables turned on him. Love the taxi ride.

Their romance is driven by emotion not lust shown by the sacrifices they both make.

As a novella this story is a teaser but reaches a satisfying conclusion. Perfect for a little late night reading or on the way to work. Just remember sighing on public transport may draw some funny looks. 🙂

I received an ARC from Harper Collins UK, HarperImpulse via NetGalley for an honest review.

5* Review of ‘Sinfully Summer’ Aimee Duffy

Can you hear the party music and feel the heat of the sun when you open this great beach read? Definitely.

Alexa is the darling of the scandal press. Player Ric is the arrogant hotel entrepreneur. When they meet as Alexa fulfills her flirty holiday dare the atmosphere is so electric it rivals summer lightning.

The author skillfully provides insights into the characters’ psyche. Traumatic childhoods have rebounded on their adult lives. Are they too damaged to risk their hearts again?

Their connection is sizzling and unwelcome. Especially when Ric tricks Alexa into working with him on a project close to his well hidden heart.

Alexa’s vulnerability is disguised by her zest for life and fiery temper but it makes her easy to like. Ric is tortured and plagued by his past. Afraid his good fortune will be snatched away from him by the inquisitive media.

This story is absorbing but very easy to read. Full of emotion, sensuality and humour a must for your beach bag this summer.

Sinfully Summer
