Blurb 2016 -1

Promises are meant to be kept—but Patrick O’Brien is too numb with grief…

Patrick hasn’t been able to move past the loss of his wife, who died while delivering his twin boys—Finn and Connor. While life continues around him, he is left in a state of emotional suspension, unable to honor his final vow to his wife and move on after she is gone.

Faking it only goes so far…

Always known as the moody older brother, Patrick maintains his distance from his overbearing but loving family. He’s barely coping, but still finds a way to be the best father he can to his sons.

Amber Miller returns home and finds more than the small town she left behind…

With her son in tow, Amber reluctantly returns to Birch Valley when her parents ask for help. Their well-known diner, Herrick’s, is a staple in the community. But more than that, her father is ill, and they need the extra set of hands to keep the place going.

Lonely hearts attract…

When Patrick and Amber cross paths, their instant attraction catches both off guard. Working through their own kinds of grief, the two must figure out what they want for their future—even if it’s not each other.

Losing someone you love is devastating, but learning to love again comes with its own challenges.

Is he strong enough to risk his heart? Or will running from love be the ultimate betrayal of Patrick’s Promise?

My Review 2016-1

This is my first visit to the Cloverleaf series and even though I haven’t read the first two books yet, it is easy to understand the characters, the family dynamics and the lovely setting in Birch Valley. This is a feel good sweet romantic story, which is filled with poignancy, good old fashioned romance and a family that reminds me of ‘The Waltons’, with a twenty-first century twist.
Patrick lost the love of his life in the worst way possible, left to raise the sons his wife never saw; he relies on his family’s practical support but closes his emotions off and refuses to let them in. Her father’s serious illness forces Amber back to her hometown to help with the family business. Amber and Patrick’s meeting turns out to be a turning point for both of them.
Perfectly paced the story follows Patrick and Amber’s fledgling relationship against the background of family illness and a very special family wedding. This is a great standalone read but I like the other characters so much that I will have to read the other books in the series.
Complex vivid characters enhanced with a small town setting and strong familial ties. The romance is gentle but the emotion is strong and realistic. Patrick’s promise is the perfect combination for romantic escape.
I received a copy of this book from the author in return for an honest review.

Author Bio 2016 -1

I was born and raised in southern California and relocated to beautiful eastern Washington state. The rural small towns that speckle this vast area have inspired my ideal setting for most of the stories I write. The pine and tamarack trees covering the towering mountains, the shimmering lakes and rivers, the abundant wildlife and a feeling of a time forgotten, stirs so many of my creative juices. I can’t thank my parents enough for dragging this city kid on long roadtrips up to this rugged foreign area, because now it is my home and I truly love my life here.

Reading was something that spurred me to begin writing at a young age. I enjoyed creating characters, different settings, and describing anything and everything. Storytelling, I have found is something I have inherited from both of my parents. I love attention to detail, using words to fully bring the picture alive, that is something I got from my dad. Creating characters and figuring out their story and how to achieve their happy ending comes from my mom. Then there is the smell of a book, new or old, the weight of it in your hands as you balance it open, seeing all those beautifully typed words spun and woven into sentences, this was created by a writer. I knew that was what I wanted to be when I grew up.

Over the years I fiddled with a story here and there, but it wasn’t until 2015 that I realized it was time. Time to get those dreams down on paper (or my laptop) and so The Cloverleaf Series was born. Coming from a family that is focused on being involved in each other’s lives as much as possible created a great deal of inspiration and ideas for The Cloverleaf Series. My family is one that has weathered several terrible storms and still somehow keeps propelling forward. During those sunny times we can be seen gathered around, eating good food, sharing memories, and laughing until we can’t catch our breath. We fight hard and love hard.

Romance, I simply love it, that’s why I write it. I remember my mom giving me my very first paperback romance novel. It was a pretty exciting one filled with suspense and an overall excellent storyline, she had just read it and she felt it was suitable for my teenage eyes. That was it, I was hooked. I began to devour these romance stories that varied over the years from sweet to sultry, I consumed thousands of books and stories over the years. Each time I finished reading a novel, the desire to write my own grew stronger. As ideas for books swirled in my mind, it always had a romantic element to it, and I suppose it always will. What is there not to love about falling in love and finding that special person to share your life with? Who doesn’t wish for passion, butterflies in your stomach, and that happily ever after?

As a reader, I can’t even begin to thank all of the writers that have created so many emotions for me, falling in love with characters, mourning their loss, sighing as I close the final chapter or smiling when everyone lives happily ever after. As a writer, I just want to do the same.

My Review

Strong characters, an original plot, sensual romance and a suspenseful twist kept me turning the pages of ‘Chasing Dreams’; Sky is a typical new adult heroine, running from a tragic loss she decides the only way is forward and sets off to the bright light of LA to realise her dreams as a professional singer.
Serendipity and a great best friend play a part in Logan and Sky’s meeting but the instantaneous attraction is down the them. The passion between them dominates their developing relationship and makes for some memorable love scenes.
Logan is controlling and I find this trait irritating but his caring nature and deepening love for Sky redeems him for me, as the story progresses.
Sky is independent and tenacious and easy to like. Her obvious physical attraction to Logan reveals her vulnerable side but when he oversteps, her feisty nature returns and demands his respect.
The suspense element enhances the story and contrasts with the sensuous romance. Well paced,it probably won’t turn out like you expected, which is always the mark of a good book.

Author Bio 2016- 2

Alison Mello (1)Alison Mello is a wife and stay at home mom to a wonderful little boy. She lives with her amazing family in Massachusetts. She loves playing soccer, basketball and football with her son.

After having her son, Alison started reading again and fell in love with Contemporary Romance. Reading made her happy and gave her something to do when she had downtime. As she started to read more, she started to noticed things she really enjoyed in a book and things she didn’t. She began to have ideas for writing one of her own. One day she literally woke up and started writing. She realized that if there was ever a time for her to write, it was now. She had a part time job to give her something to do. The hours at work were slow and she was bored with what she was doing, so while her son was off enjoying his friends over summer vacation she got started.

Alison finished the first book in two weeks and decided that she really enjoyed writing, so she kept going. She already had ideas in mind for books two and three, so she kept writing. That is how the Learning to Love Series was born. Somewhere along the line, one of my Beta readers convinced me that Michael, a character from Finding Love, needed his own story. That is when Alison added the fourth and final book. Alison hopes you enjoy her books as much as she enjoyed writing them.

She’s so glad she started this writing journey and hopes you will stay with her for the ride. Chasing Dreams is scheduled to release in April and the first two books of the Love Conquers Life series will be out this summer!
