This contemporary,fast-paced romantic novella set in a chic boutique hotel is a lovely escapist read if you have a spare couple of hours. The second in the ‘Do Not Disturb series’ it has plausible characters that experience their worst nightmares and best dreams within the microcosm of hotel life.
Layla a diligent guest services person becomes the very personal assistant to Matt a celebrity pro-tennis star who appears to court the paparazzi but is he really as shallow as he seems? Layla craves ‘normal’ family life after a less than conventional upbringing. Smarting from her mother’s latest betrayal she meets Matt who epitomizes all she despises. Sparks fly from their first encounter and lead to some steamy love scenes.
I liked Layla because she knows what she should do but follows her instincts rather than commonsense. She risks everything for love and deserves to have a happy ending. Matt is likeable too although his finer feelings do get buried beneath his arrogance and self -preservation periodically.
This is an enjoyable read full of witty conversation and genuine emotion.
