‘Tempting a Devil’ is the first of ‘The Saint’s Devils’ books I have read. This story does stand alone but to maximize your enjoyment read ‘The Devil’s Thief’ the first book in the series too.
I love the heroine Harriet Mercer or ‘Harry.
Subjected to the worst of arranged marriages she survives and matures into an independent woman. The cost of this transformation isn’t revealed until later. Difficult choices allowed Harry to maintain her hard-fought independence and the well-being of her child whom she adores. It is the outcome of these decisions which are explored in the story and ensure Harry is not the usual Regency heroine.
Roger Templeton is a rake whose reformation into gentleman is too quick for my taste. A chance meeting with Harry forces him to examine and change his way of life but a few scenes of the devilish rake before this process began would have increased my enjoyment.
Secondary characters Hil and Wiley are interesting and support the main characters well. The villain’s character is well-developed and he is easy to visualize. The author explores the unsavory themes, common in Regency England with sensitivity. The humorous thread stops it becoming too dark.
The plot is complex but not complicated. The pace of the book ensures an easy read. The heat level of this book is varied and appropriate for the genre. The sensual scenes are well written. More historical detail would have enhanced the story.
I will definitely read the first book in the series and the subsequent ones and I recommend ‘Tempting a Devil’ to lovers of fast paced, sensual Regency romance.

I couldn’t put this down until I finished it.
Singing at a hard-won gig Alana makes eye contact with JP a tough, arrogant music man. From his expression he doesn’t seem to like her singing and the scene is set for a scorching encounter after the show.
From the first page you are absorbed into the gig’s atmosphere and feel Alana’s frustration at JP’s derogatory opinion of her. The setting is glitzy but hard-edged and grounded in reality.
A real page turner. This tempting novella leaves the reader with a ‘Happy For Now’ ending and definitely wanting more of Alana,JP and music city.
The story focuses on Alana and JP’s electrifying connection and its erotic outcome but the book delivers more than this. The possible eventual outcomes of Alana and JP’s story are many. This book is definitely the start of a very special series.

Can you hear the party music and feel the heat of the sun when you open this great beach read? Definitely.
Alexa is the darling of the scandal press. Player Ric is the arrogant hotel entrepreneur. When they meet as Alexa fulfills her flirty holiday dare the atmosphere is so electric it rivals summer lightning.
The author skillfully provides insights into the characters’ psyche. Traumatic childhoods have rebounded on their adult lives. Are they too damaged to risk their hearts again?
Their connection is sizzling and unwelcome. Especially when Ric tricks Alexa into working with him on a project close to his well hidden heart.
Alexa’s vulnerability is disguised by her zest for life and fiery temper but it makes her easy to like. Ric is tortured and plagued by his past. Afraid his good fortune will be snatched away from him by the inquisitive media.
This story is absorbing but very easy to read. Full of emotion, sensuality and humour a must for your beach bag this summer.
